Morning All

I've recently converted my XT M770 crank from a triple to double with a Gamut P30 bash ring I attached with the previous bolts (bash brought second hand and dint come with any bolts)

I should have replaced these as they werent in the best of condition however I was impatient to get out riding again so I added it to the "I'll get round to that list".

All was well until my ride home the other day when I noticed a creaking from the crank and on inspection two of the bolts hand come out completely. Fortunately I was near to home but I do now need new bolts.

Do I need to get longer bolts then the standard XT ones with this set up? The ones that were used had been tighten up and threadlocked.

Hi, I recently swapped my largest chainring for a Gamut chain device but with the aluminium bash. The bash was thinner than the chainring it replaced and even though the bolts were done up tight as possible they were too long and were screwed all the way in before they actually clamped the bash. As a result you could feel the bash slightly loose. I swapped for shorter chainring bolts ones and problem solved, so it may be your bolts are too long rather than too short. You should be able to tell from the reverse side if the bolts are thread into each other enough.
