My double mistake - put one letter wrong in my delivery address on two orders - the rest of address was correct and they went to council offices in Dundee rather than home in Dumfries (150miles away). First delivery chain reaction sorted to be fair, second one they say I have to sort out. You would think Hermes would spot such a different adddress. Feeling a bit hacked off such a small error causes such a c cup.
I ordered one evening & it arrived the next day, on the 2/3 day service, via Hermes, and the man knocked at my door and called me "boss" as he hand delivered my parcel to me.
Error in postcode? Fair enough if so, they probably don’t even look at the rest until it’s actually out for delivery on the van.
Why are you entering delivery address manually anyway rather than having it autofilled by your browser? Eliminates such mistakes!
No idea how it happened all previous deliveries were good, been using them for years must have been in my account details previously
You’re saying the address has always been entered wrongly? Might make sense if so; I think they’ve only just started using Hermes, previously it was RM who no doubt do a better job of making sense out of a duff address!
Does sound very frustrating, especially just before Christmas.
As per @qwerty I was impressed with them early December: ordered a headset Friday night (around 2300 probably) and it was with me before midday on Sunday. Don't think the delivery bloke called me "boss" though, which has now taken the sheen off the experience a little bit for me.
Had to send a customer's laptop back to our Berlin office. They weren't paying so it's cheapest route wins as far as we're concerned. I therefore dimly appointed Hermes to do the shipping as they were £7! Oh how stupid I am!
Despite having the correct address, the correct company name and us being the only business building on what is otherwise a residential street, they couldn't find our office, so they shipped it back to me. Except they couldn't find me, even though they deliver to my house all the time, so they shipped it back to Berlin, again, where they duly delivered it correctly. Sadly for them, their system somehow now thinks it's lost though and so I got my £27 pounds back (delivery cost and minimal insurance payout).
My previous HERMES RANT.
I ordered from CRC (again) the other day (damn them for being the only place to have it in stock at a discounted price!!) which is due to be delivered (?) today - will see what happens.
If your post code is correct then I would have thought it should be OK.
Yesterday we had two exactly opposite Hermes experiences. Due to pre -Xmas inefficiency we ordered stuff from CRC and Go outdoors on the next day , more postage cost , thing. The CRC parcel arrived well within the 2hour window we had been given by text that morning, the Go outdoor parcel has still to arrive. We have had no comms from Hermes and when we followed the tracking number , we got a 'there is a problem with your parcel' message. So we have paid extra for next day delivery which not only didn't happen the next day but there is no indication at all when it will actually happen. Poor, but whether this is Hermes' fault or the retailer it is hard to tell.
Horizon carbon bars thrown over my fence into the carpark. Told by Hermes that they were signed for by 'a man' despite the delivery being an hour after we shut and the whole place was deserted. Luckily the first car into the yard in the morning noticed and didn't drive over them.....
Other half of the order (a jersey) didn't turn up so I assumed lost but then it appeared 2 days later.
I try not to order from CRC these days unless absolutely necessary specifically because of hermes as this is not the first time.
Sometimes the cheapest rate courier won't be the best value option for your business...
Waited in for a delivery from CRC/Hermes.
Van stopped outside house. No knock on the door. Parcel left on door step. Opened door picked up parcel which had two holes in it. One of the items was missing - must have been ripped in transport. Ran out to find delivery man but he was gone.
The good news was, when I contacted CRC they resent the item on one day delivery no questions asked, so happy now.
Had this before with our local Hermes. No knocking. Leave stuff on door step to get soaked. Not so impressed.
I simply put 3rd house on the left with white door somewhere in Yorkshire and expect hermes to deliver it yesterday and if that doesn't fool them I shut the curtains turn up the music and by jo if they don't deliver it promptly I'll take to the Internet and Blaim anyone but myself.
I got a refund on the last 24hr Hermes delivery from CRC, the folks at CRC were great, tried to track the parcel and contact Hermes to get it sorted, couldn't do enough, but even their hands were tied. It's really hit and miss and IME depends entirely on the driver.
They are cheap for a reason have no building to take items back locally for you to collect throw it over the garden fence which they have done a few times in my case lucky it was only clothes etc as the garden fence is 6ft high also I don't think the drivers get paid if they don't deliver the item might be wrong there that's what I have heard.
Your mistake was believing that crc would give a damn hence should not give them a penny in future
That top tip is gratis 😁
The second order: I don't think you can sort out. Your contract is with CRC. You don't have any contract with Hermes. Only CRC can contact Hermes and say they have the wrong address. How would Hermes know you're not a random trying to pinch parcels?
