[Closed] Chain suck on brand new kit? (Hemlock)

I was getting some pretty bad chain suck on my Hemlock soon after I got the frame - I'd swapped all the kit over from my old bike. The chain stay is shaped so that once the chain gets in there, I was having to take the cranks off to remove it. Turns out the front rings were completely shagged, and chain not great either.

So I bought a brand new drive-chain - steel Deore front rings, Sram PC991 chain, and Sram cassette. However it's done it twice again in as many rides. I can't think what could be causing it when the total mileage on the rings and chain is less than 50.

The BB has a single 2/3mm spacer on the drive side, nothing on the non-drive-side, so I can't space it out any more unfortunately.

Any suggestions, please?!

Cheers

Set your limit screws properly and get a chain catcher.

Thoroughly degrease and relive chain, check for stiff links, check alignment of rear mech hangar.

Try again, it is probably packing grease in the chain.

Brand new rear mech as well. What's a chain catcher? Quick google suggests that's for dropped chain, not chain suck.

Never suffered with chainsuck on mine, but I run a chainguide so that may make a difference? Might be worth emailing Cotic and asking if they have any suggestions, they've been nothing but fantastic when I've needed help.

Absolutely brand new rings and chain can be a bit sticky til they wear in, apparently- never had it but you hear it a lot, and it does make sense.

If it's a late model Hemlock, or it's got the last version of the chainstays fitted, then the beefed up stays do come pretty close to the rings- that can't cause chainsuck but it can mean it's a bugger when it happens, quite jammy. I made myself a chainsuck guard using a bolt through a blackspire stinger backplate- sort of like the K-Edge things except mine works 😉 Not really essential but when riding in really manky conditions, fetid innerleithen winter races and the like, it's been well worthwhile.
