Hello,
I've replaced my drive train to a 2x10 set up from a 2x9.
I've replaced the old xt/slx with new slx except the crank, which is a 9 month old slx double with a bash guard.
I took the bike out last night and found the chain was slipping on the chain rings. It only slips on the larger chain ring, is this because this the chain ring I use the most?
Can anyone recommend a replacement?
Thanks i advance!
Michael.

So, that's a new set of front chain rings, new chain and a new 10 sp cassette?

The front chain rings are approx 9 months old, probably covered about 600/700 miles.

Does it slip in all gears or just some when in the big ring?

Is the front mech in alignment for all gears as you change on the rear?
Are the rings bent?
Is the chain the correct length
Have you got the right rear mech for the changes required?

I would not be running out buying new rings that had only done 600 miles tbh and would look for other causes first - they may be but they would not b my first guess.

+1 for new chain rings. Cassette may be ok but chain and chain rings need to wear together. I've had the same problem with slippage when I tried to replace just the chain. Ended up changing the rings and cassette though.

If the PCD of the SLX chainrings is the same as Deore steel rings get them; dirt cheap, long lasting and the weight difference is negligible.
