Ok so I've just turned my Spesh Enduro to 24 /36 chainrings, made a cock up on the "first fitting" as the "notch" was on the wrong side on the chainrings 😳 but on the first ride one bolt on the outer chainring was gone already.
Been using the coloured alloy ones from Evans but don't seem to have much life in them and the inner hole is too bloody small for my tool.
Anyone recommend me some decent chain ring bolts?
Just ask for standard chainring bolts in the length you require, much stronger/cheaper/resistant to the hamfisted than blingy coloured ali ones.
Steel ones for a negligible weight penalty and their ability to withstand higher torques than aluminium (what coatesy said)
Should be able to get a set of 4 or 5 for £5.
If you order online read the description as well as look at the photo, you get can them for bashguards, inner rings, etc, etc
Race Face, anything steel really.
Had some SRP purple ones back in the day, made a of cheese mostly.
Cheers guys was thinking of Steel ones maybe better I'll get looking 🙂
Only advantage I've found the alloy ones over steel is they are easier to drill out when they inevitable get rounded off 😉
The best by far:
