I'm currently running a 34/46 - 11/28 gearing on my CX bike. (the original crank was 36/46 but I put a smaller ring on).

can I replace the 34t ring with a 30t ring? (someone said I'll need a bigger bottom bracket)?

if this isn't possible can I fit a road triple, take off the big ring and replace the middle with the 46 - making a 30/46?

thanks
Craig.

34 is probably as small as you can go, sounds like a compact road crank. Number of teeth is limited by the bolt circle diameter of the crank. What cassette are you running? Would be cheaper to change that than the cranks.

thought so, 11-28 with a small cage - so I'd need a new mech too!
