blimey,
i kept getting a ''card declined'' from chain reaction this morning, !!!
tried four maybe five times, I was sure everything was correct i have the money the right details where going in etc, not a mammoth order maybe 200 squids, card declined...................
phoned halifax, ''ok why is my card being declined ??''
the reply ''it's not you it's the merchant'' ''they are having a serious issue regarding fraud and have asked the bank to decline certain purchases if they look iffy'',
i usually use paypal for CRC, especially since all that dodgy business earlier this year,
i gotta say in all my years of throwing money away i've never encountered this before !!!
Biscuit anyone?
why on earth are you wasting your money with those twunts.
give your money to someone else
CARD SCAMMING it is called.....OH heck we encountered the same thing a few weeks ago....and found out that the local cash machines had be done over !!!!! the police wouldnt tell us exactly which cash machine but it was local to us..... im afraid you will have to ring your bank and get anew card etc etc etc.... apparently there had been a raid by the bobbies and my hubbys card was one of many numbers that had been frauded.....
luckily no money had disapeared from out bank ...hope you will be ok...
theres alot of card scamming around at the moment apparently..
Not CRC's fault then? They declined your card as it looked iffy, maybe they've had some fraud from you're IP address? You'd be up in arms if they hadn't declined it and it had been fraud.
Would you have kicked up a fuss if an order for 4 pairs of boxers and a dura-ace groupset to
MrSkiboy
123 feung seuy
egg fried rice street

Appeared on your account.
Use paypal.
don't get me wong (sic) i wasn't complaining just a little shocked how far the fraud on their site has developed, when I spoke to the bank they said they have been asked to block transactions which appear irregular,
as i normally use paypal, i thought ok , that must be it because its only a few weeks since my last crc purchase,
the bank said to retry in five minutes, so i waited then went for it again this time with paypal, it wasn't having any of that and turned down the paypal transaction too !, so i went back into the merchant and payed directly using my banks CC, that time it went through..
i've never had any fraud against me and my iP address is good ?
CRC had lots of fraud issues earlier in the year - lots of people had their cards scammed. Not sure if they ever openly admitted thier site was at fault but they sent some aggrieved people vouchers. ?Maybe they are being targetted again
I've had a few "stops" put on my debit/credit cards recently but that's because I use the credit card rarely and I've been making some atypical purchases. it's annoying when you've ordered something and it gets delayed but I guess it's better that than all my cash ending up in Nigeria.
I went to ASDA the other day for an emergency shop with the missus, and up on the wall next to the entrance is a 15 foot CRC Advert.
CRC are getting big now and sticking up great big adverts next to where all the Chav scum shop (let's not have any illusions about ASDA's general customers) only increases general awareness of the site, the more visible they are the more CRC will be getting targeted by Fraudsters...
I'm a chav? Or are you a dick?cookeaa - Member

"Irregular" in credit card terms can mean a lot of different things - you entering your name as "Dave" when "David" appears on your card, for instance. Generally, that would go through, but in a situation like CRC when they're being extra careful, it won't.
I'm a chav? Or are you a dick?
WTF?? overreaction.
Crikey druidh I didn't think people would get so precious over their choice of supermarket...
I'm sure you are not scum, but a good proportion of the people I encounter at my local branch TBH are...
The Staffys and spliffs brigade cluttering the area outside the doors, the monosylabic, red faced life failures shouting at their kids inside the store, it ain't a nice place for a middle class boy like myself to frequent...
My actual point though was that CRC are upping their profile the location of adverts is not that important, but the fact that they're going for broader awareness of their website, will inevitably bring more attention from fraudsters... Tada!
just spoke to the bank again to put my mind at rest, i'm happy with the response by their fraud department, they are just on the ball at the minute,
as for using chainreaction, sometimes they really P1zz me off but life is all about choice and they have the choice i'm afraid, so i put up with the lies about delivery and the fact they use parcel farce as their main carrier.
CRC adverts in ASDA, not really where you would get a lot of dedicated mountain bikers ??, must have been cheap

Dunno, even MTBers have to buy food and theirs plenty of people passing it on a daily basis, on foot or slowly in a car it's a pretty ideal position for an advert also the Ad includes some handy examples of the sort of premium bikes they sell just to give the tea leaves some useful brand name pointers no doubt (I really must stop stereotyping)...
i gotta say my local asda is not a good experience either and it's there biggest store too, staffs and red faces galore !!
Eh? CRC sell bikes and bike bits (and lots of other stuff as it happens) to lots of folks. Do you really think that whinging-middle-class-left-trackworld represents some sort of microcosm of their market?skiboy - MemberCRC adverts in ASDA, not really where you would get a lot of dedicated mountain bikers ??,
yes

So was it your bank being on the ball, or was it CRC?
