Converted from a Deore 2 x 10 to 32t 1 x 10 setup and now get chain noise in the three lowest (granny) gears. There seems like a lot of chain bend but cant seem to see any way round this.

New cranks specific to 1x setups?
Chain to short?
The rear mech still has room to move in the granny gear as I only took two links off the chain.

ye will be the cranks as the single ring wont be in the middle of the cassette, i went for a triple SLX and used the ring in the middle, works great all the way through the gears.

not the most cost affective buying new cranks but may save you money on chains/ cassettes.

Just space the chainring away from the spider a little with washers/spacers available online.
You may or may not need longer chainring bolts.

Can you move BB spacers and/or 2mm washers between the chainring and the spider?

When I had the cranks off there were no spacers in the BB. I will try getting some chain ring washers to bring the chain ring further in to reduce the angle.

Cheers, just wanted to be sure I wouldn't come a cropper or had done something stupid!
New spacers ordered and it should hopefully reduce the noise a bit by reducing the chain angle.

Got them from UKbikestore.co.uk
Just punched 'chain ring spacers' into google and they came up. 75p each

Your chainline will want to be 48 - 50mm. Sheldon Brown will advise.

AFAIK centre Line of seat tube, but I may be wrong

Might need longer chainring bolts if you're adding spacers. CRC do steel blackspire ones.

Centreline of seat tube to the inside face of the chainring. Didn't realise that required explaining.

I'll repeat, read Sheldon Brown 😉

Shimano 10sp MTB chain? Have you got it installed the correct way round? wrong way will be noisier and not as smooth. Always worth double checking.

More to the point, you did check it wasn't the end of the gear cable tapping the spokes? Only saying as my 1x10 set up gave me noises in the top three gears 😆
