Falling off the front? Or coming off the smallest sprocket at the rear?

Is it a clutch mech?
The clutch could be loose (they can be tightened) or turned off?

As above, is the clutch on?

Is the front ring narrow wide?

Is the front ring worn out?

Sometimes the clutch will benefit from a service as well.

Clutch on? Clutch adjustment correct? Clutch in good working condition? Chainring worn? Chain length correct?

Personally I still run a guide on 1x narrow wide

You can get BB mount chain guides, and seat tube mounted ones too.

Having never fitted a chainguide to a hardtail with a NW and clutch mech and smashed my way round the alps, peaks etc etc, I would say that there is defo something else going on there.

Is the NW ring worn?  They defo get less grippy.

How old is the mech?  Have you serviced the clutch?

How long is the chain? Pics are helpful.  Show the gears with the chain in the biggest cog on the back.

I had a chain which constantly dropped, turned out to be a worn quick link which was the issue
