chain dropping off in 11T sprocket

Ragley Big Al hardtail - running 32T x 11/46. On rough fast downhill trails the chain has been dropping off the front chainring when in the 11T sprocket, this is happening with the clutch on/off. The drive chain is pretty clean and fairly new. I think it maybe the chain is slightly long and creating too much slack when in the 11T sprocket, so thinking of:

Option 1: remove a link or two from the chain to shorten it.

Option 2: If option 1 does not work, fit a chain guide next to the front chainring.

Any other suggestions?

Check how to measure the actual correct chain length from the casette/derailleur manufacturer.. Better than guessing.

Removing a couple of links solved my similar problem, I just checked that the RD wasn't going to be over extended in the biggest sprocket.
