So bike is a Trek Superfly 9.6 2014 with Shimano Deore XT Shadow Plus derailleur which has a clutch.

When I go round bumpy right hand bends the chain comes of the front chain ring. This happens mostly when I'm in the smaller cogs at the back.

Whats all that about then? Thought clutch mechs were meant to prevent this.

Engage the clutch?

Chain too long?

Clutch is engaged

Chain length is all I could think it could be

Shift into the gears affected, then stop and have a look at the chain, see if you've got any slack, check that the clutch is working too.

have you checked and adjusted the clutch? its a wear item and needs to be adjusted. be warned, the tension adjuster needs only 1/4 turn at a time

Bike is still pretty new and its been happening since I bought it. Should have took it back to shop but we had a minor disagreement.

Will check slackness when in smaller cogs
