What do you all recommend just put new chain mech and cassette on so want to start off on right foot.

Only prob is no split link so taking chain of is nightmare

Is it worth degreasing an re oiling every ride or does it do more damage than good

Wipe it down with a rag. If it is really gunked then a bit of white spirit on the rag removes the grime before re lubing.

1) Get a split link.

2) Take off and clean can be faster than trying to do a good job on the bike- a lot faster, if it's been properly dirty- and makes it easier to relube too.

leave the degreaser dowm - it'll cause far to much damage than good.

it'll strip out all the lube inside the rollers that you wont be able to just reapply with a quick lubing!

just wipe it down with a rag, then get a brush with hot water and give it a quick scrub.

What about the cassette an mech ok degreasing them as jockey wheels tend to get well gunked up

For cassette and mech you can just paint some degreaser on with a brush and wash /scrub it off. Works fine
