At my wits end...

I have an NS surge frame, 73mm bb.
Im trying to run 1x9 setup, but struggling with chain alignment.

The chainline is just acceptable if I remove all spacers from the external bb making the cranks as near to the frame as poss.(the 'middle' chainring then lines up nearer to the center of the rear casette)

Whats the issue you may ask?
Well, I'd like to run a chain device and assumed a superstars plasma was up to the task (similar to e13 but cheaper etc etc...)

As i have no ISCG mounts, i used the supplied bb mount, which replaces the 2.5mm spacer which is standard on the drive side of a73mm external BB.
With the cranks fitted, the chainring rubs the top and bottom guides so the cranks needed spacing out by another 2.5mm bb spacer after the chainguide bb mount.

so now nothing rubs up the front, but the cranks are further away from the frame and the chainring aligns with the 7th sprocket (i.e, third from the bottom)

this means that in the lowest gear (34t big rear sprocket) it makes one hell of a noise. The kind of noise that if you had a granny ring up front you would immediately drop off the middle and start using it!! 😀

so i hope this all makes sense and hope you guys can help.
I've built plenty of bikes but this is my first 1x9 chainguide hardcore all mountain dirt jump xc freeride downhill hardcore hardtail 😆

...is this common? am i basically stuffed and gonna have to settle for a seat tube mounted xc type one and a chainstay mounted roller thing?
...or do other manufacturers have thinner bb mounted type ones?
...or do i just need a new frame with iscg!?

thanks

I have made up some 0.5 and 1.0 mm spacers to try and combat a chain alignment problem on my DB alpine, you could place some either side of the guide to align guide to cranks and chain to cassette. I could post you some to try if you like?
