Has anyone ceramic coated a frame and if so what did you use?
I'm contemplating using some G-techiq auto ceramic coating that I already have and I see they are now doing a bike specific range of products including a ceramic coating, but if I've already got some I'm reluctant to buy more given it's probably the same stuff.
So, has anyone done this?

I’d say it’s a pretty pointless exercise. Sure it will look super shiny immediately after waxing/coating. But first manky ride it’s over 🤷‍♂️

Wipe down with Gt85 or similar will
Suffice 🙂

Funnily enough, I just did one for the first time. A Trek Fuel Ex carbon frame, using Carboncollective "Platinum Trim" - mostly because I already have some for the car so thought I'd give it a shot. The "trim" one is a more matte finish, and the guys at Carboncollective recommended that one - said they'd done some downhill bikes and it worked out well.

Dead easy to do, and the whole frame now looks just a little slicker. It was on top of an invisiframe kit, and the bike was brand new - makes cleaning easier. Whether it makes much difference I don't know yet - will tell you come Sunday evening when I'm washing it!

The main point as I understand it is that it makes the bike easier to clean - dirt doesn't stick etc.

Actually it's not a shiny finish and the stuff I have us 2 part that forms a chemical bond with the outer surface of the bike/paint. This is 2 fold in that it toughens the surface and gives a slick finish that dirt is less likely to stick to. It's also going on a road bike so should see similar conditions to a car.
I've got the stuff already and the protection is claimed to last up to 5 years on a car.

When I've used similar or car wheels they have continued to bead for 2 years ( and counting) and are dead easy to clean. No harsh chemicals and furious scrubbing so I would say it's up to the job
@whatgoesup - it sounds like the ideal bike to apply. Hopefully you have good results. On the back of that I think I'll give it a go.

Jonno Jones did a video where he visited the g tekwhatever guys to do his bike. Obviously it was a paid promotion thing. Not watched any of his more recent videos to see if he's showing it working still

yes I have done mine. Didn't use overpriced stuff like Gtech. Can get it off ebay for £7-8. Nothing fancy about the technology. Need to take your time doing it and probably worth a strip clean of the bike first (wheels off etc)

I'd a 6/4 Ti that was mirror polished, and a total nightmare to keep that way. Stick with whatever it is or use frame protector, or its just throwing money away.
