Hi,
Couple of years ago I bought some Hunt wheels that had centre lock hubs with 6 bolt adapters included. From the start I used the adapters and fitted 6 bolt brake rotors.
I'm looking to buy some new rotors and am happy to get either 6 bolt or centre lock rotors.
But, something doesn't seem right. A centre lock rotor doesn't appear any thicker than a 6 bolt rotor - but the 6 bolt rotor sits on a thickish adapter on the hub. YouTube videos say the centre lock rotor slips straight on to hub i.e. no adapter.
Does this mean a centre lock rotor sits alot closer to the hub and I'll have to adjust the callipers too or am I missing something obvious?
Hope the above makes sense.
Cheers for any help.
Nah, the centrelock rotor- the metal bit- is the same thickness as a normal one but it's got a mounting doofer in the middle as well which adds the thickness. The adapter replaces that bit.
Ah, cheers @Northwind.
One last question. Is the locking I've been using for the 6 bolt adaptet the same I'll use for the centrelock?

Yes

I have 2 sets of hunt gravel wheels 650/700 (different tyres) one with CL and other 6 bolt the wheels swap without having to adjust anything
I had to pad my spare Hope 6 bolt hub disc wheels with a disc shim to get seamless Wheel changeover with my dt swiss centrelocks

It depends on the shape of the dropouts and/or brake mounts.
When I built my road bike, the standard centerlock lockrings that came with the wheels were no good, as the standard cassette lockring tool didn't fit over the hub end caps.
The rotors came with 15mm hub compatible lock rings, which use a hollow tech style tool, and these fitted fine.
When I came to fit the wheels, the rear was fine, but the lockring on the front fouled the bulges on the fork, where the (flatmount) caliper holes are.
The final solution turned out to be using the (thinner) lockring from a 6hole hub to centerlock rotor adapter.
This adapter is the opposite way round to yours, I believe, so you may have a different experience.
P.S. I don't use the adapter - just the lockring that came with it.
