My current bike has centre lock hubs but I want to put my Hope brakes on which are six bolt. Are adapters a viable way of doing it? Does the disk stay in the same place in relation to the calliper?
I don’t really want to invest in new hubs or wheels…

yes, work fine on mine.

But as long as the rotors are the right size you don't need to use the Hope rotors, just keep the ones you have?

I’d sooner use the Hope rotors, they are floating ones so look nice!

The DT ones are really good, and light to boot. They're expensive to buy new (because DT) but they include them with wheelsets so you can often get them new or nearly new for cheap on ebay

The main downside is, if it comes loose on a ride you're bollocksed, since nobody carries with them a BB tool, whereas with 6-bolt you're not.

Floating rotors don't work with the adaptors, at least in my experience. The spider is too thick for it.

They're great with standard rotors, been running one for a couple of years - once I gave up on the floating rotor...

To be fair, so long as you fit the adaptor lockrings correctly with a torque wrench they almost never come loose.

Have a set of hope floating rotors on my road bike using 6 bolt to centre lock adapters. Work fine, never come loose.

I've literally never had to do up a rotor bolt or centrelock rotor/adapter after installation.

I'm a little wary of those cheap adapters like the Lifeline one, where the disk is simply held onto studs with an alloy lockring. That DT one looks better, with a serrated plate between the disk and lockring. Personally I use the Shimano adapters, which have the six bolt rotors bolted to the adapter and a steel lockring. But heavier.

Well I’m afraid that was a fail. The shimano adapters don’t fit into the recess on the back of the Hope disks and if you grind a bit off it the disk takes on an unusual dished shape and fouls the fork.
So, looks like I’m after some new wheels I think.

The shimano ones have tiny flat bolts don't they? they're the only ones I've had issues with - definitely worth trying something else. (the small bolts also go rusty). DT are good and have a 'grip' washer behind the nut.

That said, can't remember whether I've used any with Hope floating rotors but something to remember for the future.

They mostly come at night. mostly.

Most BB tools don't work with a torque wrench

Ignore me, though a lot of BB standard tools are available for torque wrenches, I’ve accumulated a few over the years.

I run 2 sets of wheels (DT 240 and 350 hubs), both with centre lock DT adaptors and both with hope 'floating' rotors and no problems with either and swap both between 2 different frame/fork combos. No issues with them fouling or coming loose
