Over the years I have admired the amazing spaces that some of you have for your bikes...everything organised, rows of bikes ready to ride, computers, beer fridges etc

Let's celebrate the small spaces. I have spend an enjoyably productive day today turning this shithole

Shithole

Into this more usable space.

tidier

Now to try and keep it tidy.

What do your compact and bijou spaces look like?

My shed
Needs a lot of work to look like yours.

Well done, you've made a good job of that. Far better.

Might I suggest though something smoother as a worktop. OSB is a pretty rough surface to work on. Maybe just even some rubber matting.

The flakes in OSB can go right up under your finger nails too, hurts like hell!

I'm impressed.

But you appear to have lost a bike? Is there a trapdoor?

Nice space. Probably on a par with what I have now. Similar sized space but a few more bikes squeezed in. Mine also seems to be full of spare tyres and wheels. Need to have a clear out. The extra head room is nice. If I had that I'd hang all my unnecessary spares there.

This.

I found a spare large bathroom tile (about A4 size) makes a good surface for cleaning and assembling small stuff on. Although less useful for more percussive maintenance ⚒️😬

The area overall looks great. Have you got space for one of those wall mounted workstands on the right under the hanging bike?

Reminds me I need to bite the bullet and sort our shed out.

What size is that? Doesn't look much bigger than my shed but far better organised!

Cheers all, good point about the OSB, this was done on a budget so all I could afford at moment...would it help if I varnished it? If not I'll look at laying something else on the top. I'm sure I have some old tiles in the loft.

Other bike is an old commuter which has been put into the garden shed to give me a bit more space.

Room is 2m x 1.35m, but as said the headroom is good.

Will get a stand, but one I can move outside to give me a bit more space.

Skip diving is good way to find work surfaces.

Hopefully you're not planning any EV charging...

Do you want a photo of the bike room, the parts room or the workshop?

I'm not even joking*

* But it's nowhere as nice as it sounds.

Still accessible, but we don't have an EV at the moment.

Varnish might help a bit.

A thin sheet of white backed hardboard would give a smooth replaceable top.

IKEA do shoe trays that are great for laying parts out in and keeping them organised.

I got a chipped kitchen worktop down from £150 to £30. I had to cut off the chipped bit to fit it anyway! And I'll chip it soon too.

Stick a layer of this on top on top of the OSB: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FFB3ODE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00

The rubber gives a nice surface to work from, and hard-wearing. Wish I'd done it sooner to my workbench top (old Ikea desktop).

Looking good, stapling/pinning some 5mm thick plywood could help as easily replaced and less slippy than white faced hardboard.

I find large size old baking sheets great for messy maintenance jobs, the lip stops you losing things and drips etc going g onto your work surface.

Jesus, I feel positively opulent in my 2 x 2.2 shed! Not the same headroom but enough to work with. You're embarrassing me now.
