He's brilliant - really good videos. Why have I only just discovered it? I had seen a couple before but never really paid any attention...
He is hands down the best coverage and analysis. Brilliant.
I actually enjoy watching his analysis more than the racing I think. 😅
I wonder how he'd be in commentary? Might lose the pure Cathro-ness, like you do ever so slightly when he's doing Pinkbike inside the tape, over Cathrovision.
I really really enjoy his videos, I did feel like at Fort William Elliot Jackson had the edge, but Cathro's videos from Leogang have been excellent.
Just found the videos this weekend too, brilliant stuff
I do love watching his comparative line choice overlays videos, nerdy I know but if it was F1 thats the sort of thing the fanbois would be getting in a froth over...
I think it's the way he goes "I reckon that's the faster line", then quantifies it (or sometimes not) with useful comparisons you can appreciate where +.16 here or -.24 there soon adds up...
I wonder how he’d be in commentary?
I could be wrong but hasn't warner drafted him in for a chat before during qualification? The problem would be that if he was in the commentary booth he couldn't be out on course getting line shots. I think what might work best is if Redbull were to pay him to do what he currently does and roll his analysis and interviews into their pre/post-race programme...
An interesting and very likeable chap 🙂
Loved his post-Fort William interview with Aaron Gwin
He is great, love his dry wit and really insightful analysis. Also a big contrast to Wyn Masters, who just annoys me.
Another thumbs up from me. Not really a DH aficionado but the detail he brings is really interesting. V impressed with how quickly he does his complex edits and gets them up too.
Did enjoy the fact that one of the riders said he asks Cathro what the best line is when practising, might have been tongue in cheek but guess videoing and watching all the riders does give you unique insight.
one of the riders
lol
Lolled by Brant, dear diary 😜
can't trust him - came out on a bike ride with me.
I think a lot of the riders genuinely watch his line-choice analysis after practise and act upon it. I know I would.
Bruni said he did for Leogang.
I remember hearing Rachel Atherton being interviewed last year and asked how she had prepared for the race "blah, blah blah...oh and obviously watching Cathrovision"
Watching Cathrovision is a big part of the whole World Cup weekend for me - and the misses
Eliot Jackson is giving him a run for his money this season, would be good to see the two of them combined into a 1hr pre race show on red bull tv with all access and a crew to help. Leave Wyn Tv for the short clip format.
saw a few vids from him a while ago and liked em.. now he's back and coverage of hte last 2 DH rounds has been awesome. such quality deserves someone paying for flights tickets etc and as said above if it doesnt change it a bigger platform / more production behind him IMO

He has Santa Cruz UK paying for his flights this season along with all the sponsors of each video. Last year he self funded and got donations from patreon.
Met him alone once at Laggan on a Wednesday afternoon. Genuinely nice guy, I never cracked on that I knew who he was(not really into blowing smoke up someone's hoop) I just asked him about his hightower he was riding and how he found it being a bigger guy.
I love the videos he does. As has been discussed his racers eye for a line is key to it. Although his previous videos of him just ducking about with his bike and drone we great. As was his series on building his van into a camper.
I wish him all the best with it all.
can’t trust him – came out on a bike ride with me.
And he plays with my kids*.

If anyone wants kids coaching from High Tower, look up the Abernethy Dirt Camps and Enduro Camps.
I find Cathrovison to be a big part of the WC race weekend now. It's so much more engaging to watch the race knowing "oh, that's the section Cathro analysed, let's see how this rider tackles it...".
His interviews with the riders are great too. He is able to ask very pertinent questions and get some interesting insights. His chat with Tracey Hannah (for a Pinkbike video I think) was revealing.
He's got a line choice recorder installed in his head I think... First time the SES went to Laggan he just moved up there for a week and memorised every pebble (well, more to the point how to avoid them). There's no point in someone like me trying stuff like that because I can barely even remember the general shape of the trail
Fabien Barel's the same, but he doesn't describe it as well and his accent's harder for us.
People keep stealing his umbrella.
Leave Wyn Tv for the short clip format.
I like Wyn TV as much as I like Cathrovision, find WynTV to be more a warts and all really give a good glimpse of the riders, did have to double check when I saw this weeks was 20mins long-ish but worth watching and the privateer of the week award is great, going back to give Nina Hoffman an extra 900 of some currency was good as her reaction was one of total shock!
I like Wyn TV as much as I like Cathrovision,
but which ones best?
