Nicest bit of kit I've ever owned, less than two months old and the ****ing cat has put her claws through it! Livid/gutted doesn't even cover it... 😭😭🤬😡

I'm sorely tempted just to take the hit on the excess and replace on home insurance, unless it's possible to repair neatly in such a way that won't make me want to throttle the little fleabag every time I put it on?

Have you considered patching it with a suitable material? I believe cat skin is waterproof and breathable 🙂

Too good for the little rat-bag, her legacy will be as a very surprised looking toilet brush...

Ours did this to Mrs OTS's duvet jacket. It now sports squares of gorilla tape 🙂

and is relegated to gardening.

Guessing you've already seen this? Might be worth seeing if they can replace the panels torn:

My full sympathies since my Shakedry is my favourite piece of kit. I had a small rip at the bottom backside of mine and I repaired it with Tenacious Tape which has been brilliant. Maybe lots of little patches for the claw punctures?

I love cats but...... I’d be furious

I don't even love cats, I tolerate the little neighbour's-lawn-crapping bird-murderer for my wife's sake...

£25 repair but 3-4 week wait.

Am thinking I buy a new one, get old one repaired, sell repaired one at 50% RRP, blame cat when wife questions why I still haven't paid off credit card...

Try here, they’re very good at exactly these sort of repairs.

If the cat is insured I’d throw it in front of a mondeo* and then claim on insurance for a new cat**. But spend the money on a new jacket instead.

* other cars are available

** I wouldn’t really kill a cat but I dislike the things. Dogs are much better.

D'oh, wish I hadn't argued so effectively against insuring it!

Rode jacket today in 4 hours of rain. Slightly damp at end but very much doubt that was due to claw holes. Will just pony up for the official repair (£25 or so but 3 week wait) and take excuse to buy the Galibier Tourmalet jacket I've had my eye on as a backup/gravel/bikepacking jacket.

Wife wants me to make peace with cat, on the basis that the cat won't understand why I'm still kicking it (metaphorically...) out of the room whenever I enter, or throwing cushions at it when it walks past. I think the healing might take a bit longer though...

This of one of the many reasons I prefer dogs to cats.

You tell a dog off for doing something like this and they actually look guilty/sad!

Then you end up feeling bad about telling them off and giving them a treat and a hug.lol

Dogs have a conscience basically!😁

Yeah, cats don’t care, but dogs genuinely
love you and hate it when you tell them off. I often feel quite guilty shortly after telling our dog off and then give her a cuddle.

Well just to close out this sorry little saga, got my jacket back from Scottish Mountain Gear

https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/

They're obviously busy as repair took the best part of 4 weeks, but they did spot a couple of extra claw marks, and the repairs are virtually invisible (thankfully not on the outside of the jacket as the girl on the phone suggested they might be). Definitely worth the £27

Cat is still pariah, but more now because the neighbours are getting a little more vocal in their disgust at the quantity of crap on their lawns, I suspect ours can't be the only moggy responsible. Litter tray re-instated and she will have to present evidence of poop-age before being let out ever again...
