You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My girlfriend's new ebike needs a cassette lockring tool I've never seen before. It's 12 splines but the outer diameter is approx 33mm. If a standard internal bottom bracket had 12 splines it would fit perfectly.
I can't find any information on this. If it makes any difference it's a Modus hub and 8 speed cassette. I'm certain it's a cassette and not a freewheel because the splines rotate with the cassette.
Any ideas?
Its not a freewheel spline is it? Like this but with more engagement points.

Are you sure it's not a freewheel, loads of cheap hub drive e bikes use 8 speed ones and depending on the brand of freewheel they often have what looks like a lockring spline on the outer cog that holds it together, there is a standard freewheel spline deeper in.
This one at sjs is a good example

Yeah, after a bit more research I'm thinking that might be the case. I didn't really look past the 'lock ring looking thing' to see if there was something else with splines tucked in behind it.
