I know this seems to be the turbo trainer forum at the moment, so here’s my question for the pile..

Just bought a smart trainer and I am going to use my CX bike which has a 9 speed Shimano cassette on.

In the meantime I’ve popped a 10 speed cassette on the smart trainer hub and tried the bike - the bottom 3 gears are slipping . I presume the 9 and 10 speed cassettes can’t cross over as the derailiur on the bike is set up for 9 speed?

Easier to buy another 9 speed cassette....?

Thanks

Easier just to swap the cassette from the bike to the trainer as it might be wedded to the chain due to wear.

True! Easiest option it seems.

And correct you can't swap 10 for 9 and have indexing

Careful, i had to buy another cassette for mine.
Then i had to buy a chain and 2 front chainrings cos the drivetrain was knackered... £100 i hadnt planned to spend!
