Having not been for a while, I took a scoot up the other day for a few laps. Not a lot has changed since the last time, didn't want to take in the trailforks alt trails as last time they were boggy stench fests.
Got me thinking, there were plans for trail extensions many years ago, and though there seemed little motivation to get these going, I wondered if there was any signs in the future.

I'm likely to be answered by a straight, no. Especially off the back off the old thread https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/carron-valley-trails/page/2/

But it always seems like a wasted opportunity (though not a waste to FCS, they still have wood)

I'd like to think any of these kind of developments in future will be close enough to the masses that they could be pedalled to, or via a train.

Carron Valley was a bad mix of out the way, and not very good.

Also, IIRC, the trail required a huge amount of stone, as its a bog of epic proportions.

Shame, used to live in Denny when they were doing that stuff, was nice to have somewhere to nip over to for a ride, always thought it was never getting any real backing, i think DickBarton on here pushed a lot of it, but too many hurdles and too much hassle if i remember.

It's a wet cold north facing hill with rubbish trails and no interest from FC in improvement. Shame, if things had turned out differently it could have been decent.

Its fun on my hybrid in the snow. I worked on Distraction but its a losing battle. Was great one time only summer 2018 when it was bone dry.

Distraction was awesome the one time it was ever dry

All sounds a bit damning.

Personally, I like the trails there, just wish there were more, given the space.

I like Carron Valley trails too. Also the gravel route along the south reservoir road to Todholes, across the B818 and into Sir John de Graham woods and then a wee bit of B818 back to the village.

CV is ok.

But the comment about it being too far from people on a wet, north facing hill is so true.

Needs a regular build day for the off piste and some freshing up on the regular trails. A lot of hard work.

Carron valley serves a purpose as it’s weatherised to if ye want a leg spin it does a job
Was there few weeks back and it’s defo lacking from any maintenance as the puddles are huge as there’s no drainage
Rode the “New to me” trail
Tree beards pubes which was wet n sketchy but has potential
