I'm thinking of buying one of these for my 8 year old. He's quite capable, and as I've started getting him onto the red routes at Laggan and Glentress, I'm hoping that a bit of back end bounce will help.
He'll be going from a fully rigid hotrock 24, so I'm hoping its going to help.

Any experience / opinions? It seems to be about the only half decent FS trail bike which comes in 24" wheel version.

No experience of the bike, but I was in a similar situation with my daughter and was lucky enough to find a specialized a1 fsr with very little use. I think a search on the for sale forum might through one up that was for sale a few months back. Great bikes if you can find one and seem highly likely to keep it's money when it gets outgrown.

The rear shock wont have any rebound/damping so you will be better off getting a hardtail for someone of that age. And it'l be very heavy for him.

Are you speculating or speaking from experience?
