Couple of riders found this the hard way (new tyre required) in our local woods this week...

First time anything like this has been done round here (worst we've had prior to this was neck height bramble stems woven across trails). It was buried in the trail to hide the wood. Had to be targeted at MTBers as I've never really seen dog walkers, ramblers or horsists on that particular trail.

Time for the club to buy some motion cameras...

Do some people not realise the life changing (or worse) injuries something like that could do to someone potentially?

Seriously think society has totally lost its way.

It’s spreading because the perps know that the landowners will ban us to avoid any problems. It’s a win-win unless they actually get caught in the act.

Flashy posted about the barbed wire at head height on Salisbury plain. It was aimed at moto riders apparently, but the tone of the response from the authorities was basically putting the blame back onto the likely victims.

The Daily Mail brigade hate us.

Other side of the road in Fineshade. Down near the gasworks.

This is precisely our concern. It's on FC managed land, but the local FC are barely tolerant of us riding off-piste as it is. We don't want to ruffle things too much for fear of them properly trying to close all our trails down (they currently turn a bit of a grudging blind eye as long as we're away from the official green and blue trails and don't get in the way of the horses and walkers too much).

Lazy bastards, can't even be arsed to bang the nails in proper, jeez.

Hope the authorities take it seriously OP. Police round our way didn't bother showing up to see the evidence when the same thing happened here, but best of luck to you, and I hope it doesn't happen again

Trying to stir up some local social media action without mentioning MTB. Playing the 'think of the dogs, kids and horses' angle. Hopefully will either get a few people angry or even root out some anti-MTB nimbyism. See what happens...

Try not to feel too bad about this. They hate everyone, including themselves.

Funnily enough, that was one of my first thoughts too.

Haven't yet rooted out any anti-bikists on the local FB pages, just one Daily Mail loon blaming hunt saboteurs. On a narrow trail deep in the woods nowhere near where any of the local hunts ride. More likely to injure an actual fox than a huntist.

that could **** a horse up good and proper, and quite easily result in the death of a horse rider, or a kid never walking properly again.

something wrong with people who even consider this type of thing.
