Do the trails at Cardinham Woods have shortcuts back to the start? The only reason I ask is I'm taking my 8 year old round in a bit leaving my wife with the 6 and 2 yo and our toddler is being very 'challenging' at the minute so I may need to cut our ride short to nip back...

As Jam-Bo said, you're never that far from a fire road to head down, then figure out which direction is most direct to the car park.

Always easy to head back from any point of the shorter loop (don't take your youngster up the extra bit... it's up, up, up). Cafe is ace. Playground is ace. Everything is in you and your wife's favour there. Good luck!

It's a very compact site but phone signal is sketchy in some of the combes.

Had a lovely family walk around here back in the summer. Lovely place.
Trails...no idea. 🙂

Cheers all. We ended up having a cracking ride and the above mentioned poor signal meant we got all the way round. Great little spot.

It’s not very big, the “proper” trails are often close to looping back on themselves. No room for much in the way of “non-obvious” cheeky stuff out of the way.

Love that cafe Pook. Top nosh.

For future readers, you just ride downhill at almost any fireroad crossing and you'll end up on the Lady Vale loop that follows the river.

There's a little bit of off-piste but not much to speak of. Grogley/Bishops/Hustyns is just up the road if you want more natural trails.
