A heads up for all the north Cardiff folk

I understand that Pentyrch Community Council are discussing possibility of restricting bike access to Garth Mtn. I have no further information than that, although one of the councillors (Simon Roberts) has been seeking feedback from the local community and users (his email address is on Pentyrch Council website). I think I'm right in saying that the tracks there are a mix of footpath, bridleway and unofficial tracks, and Pentyrch CC are the land owners. Not sure if it applies to just the mountain top itself, or down through the woods to Gwaelod y Garth /Georgetown as well

Quite out of keeping with WG move towards more open access...
Nothing on their website, where did you hear about it?

I found out 2nd hand via relative who had seen it on a local (presumably Pentyrch Facebook) site. I followed that up with an email to Simon Roberts, but his response wasn't any more informative than what I've already posted other than he's seeking feedback. Nothing on the Pentyrch CC website that I can see.

Simon referred me to the council meeting minutes - but latest one on website (Jan) has nothing in there on the subject

I've heard rumours that someone on the Community Council is very anti-bike and has been pushing this for a while, didn't know that it had got to this stage though. OS maps don't show any bridleways up there but there are blue arrows on posts, presumably for the horse riders, so I don't know what the official status of tracks up there are.

The response amongst those who chose to contribute to the faceache post was very much in favor of the status quo.
