So i've just been 'window shopping' for fun/boredom...

Looked at the Santa Cruz reserve wheelset with the DT swiss 350 hubs - oof, pricey at £1600, but you do get a lifetime warranty.

Then thought i'd look at nextie etc...they all seem to be around £1200, with 3 year warranty.
I COULD get Nextie from China for £977 posted, then i'd have import tax on that, and hassle with warranty...

Basically - now the £ to $ is so poor, there doesn't seem to be much in it between teh cheaper and branded carbon wheels....

Or am I missing something??

Or the Hunt carbon MTB wheels are only £800.

I know which I'd go for...

Not all carbon rims ride the same (not all stiff as a board). My SC Reserves are the best wheels I've ever had or ridden.

In hindsight, they aren't over 1k "better" than the DT Swiss alloy equivalent. I was just in a position to buy them at the time and wanted some bling.

I would love to try some of those Zipp Moto wheels though.

My Reserves follow me to whatever bike I buy next.

I've had great success with my Blue Flow wheels. They seem to be from £780 currently - for which you get Hope Pro 4 hubs (versus the own name hubs with Hunt).

There is also Sixth Element at around at £997 with Hope hubs, who seem to get a lot of love - possibly because they give them away to people who are not afraid to shout about them. They look grim though - though possibly OK if you select stealth decals. (All IMHO obvs)
