I'm in the market for some stiff-soled light weight SPD shoes for spinning/turbo training, and for some xc events next year. I also would like something that's not going to be too out of place on a road bike, what should I be considering? Thanks!

giro guage? although buying them for turbo/spinning work seems a bit extravagant!

Whatever you do, try them on first. I have wide feet, and quite a few branyds are too narrow for me, like Shimano and Mavic. Spesh are a much better fit, as they are naturally wider.
