I got a pro-lite pellagrino post from ebay recently for my road bike. It won't fit due to needing to insert it past the start of the shaping of the post. So I'm thinking to put it on my steel MTB where it doesn't go in so far - this currently has a hope QR clamp.

The pellagrino seems to have the reputation of the toughest carbon post out there-it bends under test pressure rather than cracks-but would you still need to get the torque right or just slam on the QR?

I've zero experience with carbon posts, if you can't tell already, partly because I've been wary of being rodgered by the short end of a snapped one.

Carbon assembly paste will let you reduce your clamp tightness.

Use the torque recommended... either on your QR or in the post manual..
