Hello all

Just a quick question before my new LEV arrives 8)

Do you guys with steel frames still use carbon paste. I find my old seatpost gets pretty stuck without copper slip, so will carbon paste stop the LEV from sticking as well as stopping it from slipping?

Cheers

Grease is the word... and a good seatclamp.

Lev instructions say not to use grease, and to use either carbon paste or anti-sieze compound. This was a surprise to me when I got my Lev. I didn't have any carbon paste, so used Park anti-sieze compound that I had on hand. I don't have a steel frame, but think that you'll be fine using copperslip.

The point is that if you have to tighten the seat clamp too much, the seat post will not function properly.

I've had a steel frame and an ally seatpost for 12 years, never had a problem with seizing. A light smear of grease (Silkolene RG2) more to keep the steel protected than anything else.

The seatpost did get a bit stickier at 8 years ish, probably a small buildup of general gunk and rust reducing the space. I bodged a light sanding arrangement with a metal road, duct tape, some foam and some wet and dry, and it's not been a problem in the 5 years since.

I wouldn't worry too much.
