Is it ok to put a carbon frame on a turbo trainer, I thought someone said not to? I have a yeti asr 5 alloy (carbon rear triangle) or a willier mortirollo full carbon. Should I just sort out a cheap alloy frame?

Cube do not recommend using any of their carbon road bikes on a turbo trainer.
Don't know about any other manufacturers though
I think Specialised did put a ban on their carbon road frames, but don't know if its still in place. It would be interesting to see how they could prove it had failed whilst being used on a turbo though 😉

I've used my madone in a TT for years, it seems fine....
It was to do with the frame being heavily clamped and then being twisted at the bb under load.
I've used my C40 in a turbo, but i hate it (the turbo not the C40) so it doesn't really count
Thanks, I thought it was something to do with the forces going the wrong way. I not really worried it is snaps whilst it is in the trainer, although it would bot be ideal but if it weakens it then it goes when I'm on the road that would be scary. Maybe I'll just do my zone one stuff on it over the winter,
You are right it is the dullest, sweaty-est thing in the world, two pairs of cycling shorts though, that's my tip!

I've used mine in the turbo for the last year, seems fine 🙂
Watch any road race - including any televised biggies like the TDF - all you'll see is pro teams warming up on their carbon bikes on TT's.
TT's are not meant for out the saddle max effort missions, rocking all over the room swaying from side to side, sure turn the resistance up but keep things smooth & its fine.
I use rollers & a TT - carbon road bike & carbon mtb on them - no issues.
Cheers, good point re the tdf and I'm only 68kg so not exactly heavy weight, how ever this does mean I won't be able to put together that hard tail project I was thinking of. All I need to a drive chain though so it might be worth it.
The TdF pros also get given their bikes for free. Not an argument that'll see me using mine on it.
Realistically it probably won't do any harm but with the cost of carbon frames I'm not risking snapping another one this year.
Even getting on and off the bike I can feel it twist a bit (I'm not very flexible!) and putting the power down I can feel it move a bit.
I've got a choice of an older, cheaper alu road bike so it's a complete no brainer for me.
