Unlucky rear mech strike cracked my 5 month old frame around the drop-out/mech hanger area. Intense haven’t said “no warranty replacement” yet, but if they do, I’ve got 2optiond:
Buy, crash/replacement rear triangle £600
Or
Have it repaired.

I’m totally inexperienced re, carbon frame repair, so I’d appreciate anyone’s opinions/advice.
Cheers

If the repair is free do that. Most good frame repair places would easily fix that. Even if you had to pay for the repair it would be significantly cheaper than £600.....

Rob Hayles at Recarb is worth a dropping a line to:

https://twitter.com/re_carb?lang=en

I think I'm right in saying that the drop-out areas of carbon frames are actually dense, injection moulded parts rather than laminated fabrications like the rest of the frame, so it'll maybe be trickier to fix than a crack in other areas, but it's definitely worth some exploratory e-mails.

What's happened? The hanger has rotated rearwards and cracked open the frame at the point where it is shaped to keep the hanger locate in its correct alignment?
I had similar on a v2 genius but it broke off the part of yours that is hanging on. I recreated the missing piece in place with epoxy and shaped with a file/dremmel. In your case, it's still there so I'd simply epoxy the fractured carbon piece back in place and use a small clamp/heat shrink tape to apply pressure to close it all back up as the epoxy cures.
Looks cosmetic to me but I absolutely appreciate the pain of seeing it not perfect.

Would second Rob Hayles - repaired mine and a mates frame and both immaculate. He will also paint to match existing decals if wanted, and V reasonable on price too.

That's solid material so an easy fix with a suitable repair compound - pretty easy DIY repair job IMO:
1. Rub it back to the bare material, clean off with solvent wipes
2. Use the hanger as a former with some release film to stop the repair sticking to it;
3. Let the repair compound set solid
4. Dremel or similar to clean it all up, polish up with wet and dry

Use this stuff: Carbon Repair Filler

Have a word with Carbon Bike Repair.

Used them via insurance and they were expensive, slow and made an obvious parts mistake.

But the work was good.

Well, that certainly gives me a bunch of options. Thankyou all for your help/ideas. Intense UK have passed it on to the US to see if they’ll consider warranty. I’ll keep you updated.
Cheers

As with others above I would break out the two-part resin glue and stick it back together. There's nothing there that compromises the strength of the frame.

Update:
Sent Intense UK an email/photos. New rear triangle on the way FOC.

Well happy.

Can’t fault that for customer service eh?

Many thanks for your advice; I did message some of the repair guys, with no response as yet, but all good in the end (if it doesn’t arrive in shards after the ferry journey)

I'd fix that one and keep the new one as a spare I think.

Glad you got it sorted though.

They want it back unfortunately. Don’t think I’ll sell this one, it’ll probably see me out 😂
