Whats the best way to protect a carbon frame from bigger rocks flying up.
I plan to invisiframe the frame and it comes with a rubber protector on the bottom of the down tube but there are a couple of areas above and below this I's like to add a bit more protection to.
I'm sure I've seen so type of tape with a raised rubber pattern on it?
Any other advice?
cheers
Not sure about tape with raised rubber, but ‘All Mountain Style’ honeycomb might be worth a look. Can be a bit annoying on pack sizes and precut pieces depending on exactly what you want though. Way more protection than Invisiframe where flying chunder is involved- invisiframe is really more aimed at protecting paint rather than frame per se.
Cheers that looks like it might do the job.
Got mine from Blacks

I think you get 20% off with code BF20 too.
an old tyre for the oldskool look , i also have a rockguardz protector for the area around the underside of the BB
You want 3M 2228 25MM TAPE SCOTCH MASTIC.
Really good stuff.

Can be manipulated to fit a little better by heating it. Looks slightly better than an old tyre ziptied on and is lighter.
Rockguardz carbon protector, if your frame has one to fit, has saved my last two bikes from big sharp bastard dents on the underside of the downtube, or that one geex linked to.
Tyre is useless against big sharp bastard rocks.
rockguardz on both my bikes. going of the marks on the rockgaurdz on my older bike its certainly saved the frame from some damage.
rockguardz actually do make the carbon one for my frame. but it doesn't cover as far up the downtube as the cheap zefal one.
2228 and kydex (formable thermoplastic plastic sheet) would make a pretty good home made one.
Or just kydex and 3M double sided tape
Aye, ye do think that when you first look at it, but gravity and centripetal force pretty much rule out a rock big enough being chucked up at that angle with any reasonable force to impact any higher! 😊
