Got offered a carbon frame but i think it may be too small for me!
What is the maximum ammount of seatpost i can safely have out of the frame without the risk of snapping my frame around the seatpost area!
I weigh 12 stone and mostly ride to/from work and xc at weekends.

The seatpost should reach to below the seat tube/top tube junction.

I managed to snap a CF post on my CF bike t'other week. - World class bit of crap riding on my part saw the post snap about 2" above the collar.

Generally speaking the post should be at least 3" / 75mm in to the frame. - Check the minimum insertion mark on the post.

Q: do carbon frames have a bonded shim in the seat tube- if yes the post should 'use' all of it. (100mm long)
