Seems I've got a bit of a wear groove from the rear tyre. It's about 3-4mm deep which doesn't sound much but I do wonder how think the tube wall is. It seems to have gone through the paint and the first two layers of carbon.
Anyone have any idea how much of an issue this is?
I'd want to be sanding the paint off that area and adding a couple of layers of carbon and then a bit of helitape to have a easily swappable protective layer, scotts are pretty light bikes, especially the sparks so there is unlikely to be much margin in the wall thickness.
If you upload/send me some pics I'll be able to give a better judgement
If you want to replace the chainstay and it's a 29er model let me know as I've got the alloy rear end on mine which is fairly rough condition so I'd happily buy it off you if it's compatible
What price will they do you a replacement stay for?
It's a 2008 model so I suspect the new option isn't a goer but it's worth a phone call.. i'lol sort out a photo later on
