I nearly lost my Carbon Jeffsy off my rear tow bar rack today, I use a thule sleeve thing to protect the clamp frame interface, the thule thing moved today allowing the clamp to work loose and only just noticed in time.
What could I do instead?. The clamps are rubber lined is that good enough? Overthinking?

The weight of the bike is on the wheels. The clamp is only just stopping the thing flying off, so shouldn't need to be tight.
FWIW - we transport over a thousand bikes each year on our vans - including using Thule rear- and roof- racks.
I've not noticed any dead baby robins since I started carrying my plastic patrol on an Atera towbar rack last year.
Never bothered with any extra protection apart from the invisiframe already fitted.
Never protect any of ours. Just use the standard Thule rubber clamps and then clamp the fourth on with the Thule fourth bike adapter. Never noticed any markings on the frame. Always clamp on the top tubes.
