I’m wanting to upgrade my standard ali bars for some carbon ones - any suggestions please? Wiggle have Nukeproof in the Black Friday sale for silly cheap money or is it worth spending more on the V2 version?
Which degree is best suited to this bike in medium size - 12 or 25mm?
Any suggestions please?
Thanks in advance.
I've just ordered a 25mm Nukeproof carbon bar for my Whyte 905 from CRC for £50 on their black friday deal. Its a no brainer at that price
Yes crazy value.
Likewise got one for the Solarismax.
No brainer.
As for rise, combo of personal choice and your dimensions.
Think the current rise on the standard bars is 20mm.
Nukeproof only come in 12 or 25mm (or higher) - really don’t want to be higher than what’s currently on there so I’m guessing 12mm would be the better option? I’m not keen on being sat too upright.
My summer bike is a Spark with flat bars.
If you want carbon to save weight then alternatively have a look at these alloy ones which are lighter at 234g. 780mm so wouldn't need trimming, unless you're after 800mm. I've been using one on my full sus for a couple of years and it's less harsh than the carbon bar on my other bike.

If you have a spacer or two above or below your stem you may be able to adjust one, the other or either close to your current position.
I have some older carbon Nukeproof Horizon bars that I didn't get on with. Ended up with RaceFace carbon ones on my 2017 T130 CRS
TBF I 'upgraded' my fork to a Pike RCT3 (not sure it's better but more mud clearance), but it had a shorter steerer so went for Horizons with more rise. It could be coincidence, but I developed pain in my elbows about the same time, so the Nukeproofs got taken off.
I’m pretty sure the standard bars on the bike are 20mm rise, not sure about the sweep but the Nukeproof are 9 degrees which ‘could’ shorten the reach - something I really don’t want.
Who’d have thought swapping out bars would be such a phaff trying to get it right!
Think I'm lucky then. The Nukeproof bars are a very close match for the Cotic bars I've taken off.
If you're trying to exactly match the height and have to choose between 12 and 25mm rise replacing 20mm then you're down to looking if you've any leeway either way with spacers to change the stem height up or down.
Renthal Fatbar Lite would be absolutely spot on but too blooming narrow.
