I'm looking at the offers on carbon 456s, rather than getting another Prince Albert. I don't know anyone with a carbon ht to try, so what differences will I notice. Obviously it will be lighter. Buy will stiffer also mean less comfortable?

Do you reckon a black carbon 456 is less of a theft target than an orange or green PA? Opinions appreciated, no questions asked......

Just get the PA. Job done!

I've ridden both and they are very different rides, the PA is noticiably stiffer and less forgiving, I find the C456 more confidence inspiring, but then the 456 is up to 150mm and the PA 140mm.

The C456 is more comfortable than the PA IMHO

All that said I love both for different reasons, shorter hacks the PA and longer all dayers the C456.

No idea on the theft bikes a bike so expect not much difference.

PA for 2 reasons...

1) it comes in orange
2) it isn't ugly

Intesting, I was expecting the carbon 456 to do better in my very unscientific poll.

Unfortunatley I cant really wait for the PA Classics in July.

Fancied a change really, and in someways, an ugly bike might be a theft deterent.

PA head angle with 140mm forks is 70 degrees I think, 456 is nearer 67.5 which seems very slack, they then sell frame bundles with a Slackset taking another 1 or 2 degrees of the angle. I've used my PA on some downhill courses and like the fact it is up to the job, but I dont know that I want to go Chopper-slack. Sort of goes against the xc / carbon idea I had in mind for the 456.

Other opinions?

People don't knick bikes because they like the look of them.

9 times out of 10 they'll be broken for the parts, I suspect.

I sold my c456 as, in the end, I concluded that I'm too old school and hang off the back of the bike rather than ride the fork - something with a steeper head angle seems to suit me better.

"People don't knick bikes because they like the look of them" - yeah, but you get noticed and followed home if you're riding a bike that stands out more - fact in BS7 unfortunately.

thanks for the comments on the bikes though. Not 100% sure which of those riding style camps I'm in, a bit of both. Maybe the PA is more versitle. Plus, tried and tested in my case.
