Looking at both in large size for a 6 footer. Riding any and everything.
I'm interested in the difference in geo, suspension (if any, I know they're the same design) and just general thoughts.
I'm put off by the pressfit BB on the carbine so the blur is edging it at the moment.
Will be built with 36s, crossmax SX, and 1x10. Any chain guide solutions for the carbine?
Thanks in advance!
I haven't ridden the LTc (own the Carbine) but imagine they both ride similarly with the VPP.
Don't worry about the press fit BB. They're not great but they're not that much trouble either.
I'm running my Carbine with the Shadow Plus rear mech, absolutely no need for a chain guide.
Do intense do any Quality Checks on the frames yet?
From a friends experience
My Frame isn't straight (when shock removed nearly impossible to get back in)
Intense - It's within tolerance
What is the Tolerance?
Intense - Er OK so new frame then
Ridden Blur LT and it was nice (also had Nomad C that day and if the stiffness comes across it would be great)

My experience of people I know owning intense frames is that alignment is a problem but the carbine is not made by intense. It's made in a factory in germany (so I'm told) so quality control should be top notch.
Not ridden the carbine but I have ridden the Blur LTc and that's a great bike. Not perfect as the geometry isn't quite how I would design it but it's incredibly stiff and versatile.
VPP suspension is a bit of an acquired taste as you can definitley 'feel' what it's doing. It's not neutral like a Horst link bike or consistent like a single pivot but it does work really well especially over bigger square edge hits and it's nothing most would it get used to quickly.
There are demo bikes out there. Here in the Surrey hills there is a carbine and LTc within 30 minutes of each other for demo. Pedal and Spoke for the Blur and Nirvana Cycles for the Carbine.
Thanks for the comments so far. I've ridden the ltc (and currently very close to pulling the trigger on one). I felt that with the 36s, it felt great. I want something a little snappier than my dw 5spot which is nice and long and slack.
The pressfit is putting me off the carbine the more I think of it.
Hmmmm
I was looking at the Carbine as a replacement for my wife's old bike.
The press fit BB I don't see on it's own as a particular issue, where is becomes a PITA is the lack of provision for any type of chain device. Granted the Blur doesn't either, but with a normal BB you have the option of using a BB mounted option.
I can't believe with the current 'on trend' 140-160 bikes they overlooked this. Suggesting a clutch mech is more than capable of resolving this potential issue is cobblers.
What also put me off is people really struggling to offload them as well. There's quite a few for sale, for not much (relative) money & they get bugger all interest. Hell there has been someone trying to sell 2 new frames on here for less than half price & they are still there. Leads me to think it might be a bit of a pup.
The Blur LT is a funny one also though - quite old school in its geo/numbers but nothing you can't sort out with a fancy headset & some offset bushes.
I'm biased as I have an LTc but I test rode quite a few before I took the plunge. The comment about pedal feedback is correct but with the modern shift towards 1x drivetrain's its much less of an issue. I paid full whack for mine, very rare you see them discounted so it was (especially for me as I'm no millionaire) a huge sum of money for me to spend on a bike, but there's not a day that goes by where I regret buying it. It really does do everything well and apart form it only having mounts for a cable dropper post I would change anything
Oh, did find one reduced here
http://www.bikescene.co.uk/Santa-Cruz-Blur-LT-Carbon-Frame-4333-0-5.html this is an absolute bargain (well, its all relative obviously 😉 )

Those bikescene ones have been sold for ages. I don't think they have any reduced bikes left, they just can't be arsed to update their site.
I have found a couple at very good prices though. 😀
Er, mate was in yesterday and inquired about one, picking up Saturday so are you sure?????
double post 🙄
Wasnt a large was it?
I expect them to be reduced everywhere soon due to the updated model coming out.
They are being sold off for $1500 on the Santa cruz website!!!!!
No he's going for a medium I think, they have more than one though. £900 off is quite a saving.
I mailed them and they have sold the only large they had.
I have found one cheaper though.
Good man!
Cheaper? Do tell? Email in profile if you would prefer not to announce here.
Anyone know what the changes are for the new models? Is it just the 142 rear end or something more substantial?
I see the Nomad C, TRc and Chameleon are also being discounted but not the Nomad Alu which is strange.
Ordered!
Less than £1600 posted for a nice black one from probikeshop.com
NOW I'm excited!!!!!
The only change is 142x12. I checked.
It has the kashima shock too doesn't it? You won't be disappointed 🙂
Nice!

But you can get a Mojo HD cheaper. 😉
Bikescene had one large they were selling (think it was £2000?).

doesnt come with the kashima
bought the medium they had a month ago,
Plenty of savings to upgrade the shock if I want to though!
i removed the new one, sold it and replaced with a kashima unit,
price is great now,
2 months ago i paid £2,421.16 according to my PayPal - but got a £484 voucher as they were doing 20% back to spend on components,
so dont feel too bad for the price drop :o)
the Carbine can be changed to run 650B just by swapping the dropouts.
That's one hell of wheelset you've got on there......
Edge/Enve Rims XC Front/AM Rear
Tune King/Kong
White Sapim XC Ray Spokes
Nice 🙂
Anyone know if I can fit an angleset with a tapered steerer fork on a bltc?
yes you can
i think
I've just bought this one, been assured it's correct but not got around to fitting it yet.
