I am doing a groupset upgrade on my road bike, and while it is disassembled, want to return the frame to showroom levels of niceness. I have tried a couple of different bike polishes before, but would love something that will reinvigorate the frame and look good for as long as possible.

Are automotive waxes and/or sealants best for the purpose? If so, what sorts of products do you suggest?

I've always been a bit wary of cross-using products, as I know that using Fairy Liquid on a car is a no-no, while it seems to be the go-to product for bikes.

Anyway, advice appreciated.

Is it lacquered or bare finish, Ive never inspected a CF frame?

I’ve used Menz 203 and the Blackfire range a long with a couple of other products on carbon frames and components with no issues.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

I assume it's lacquered. In fact, I'm certain it is.

I should add that I used a orbital polisher for most of it too.

I would think a car product would do the job without damage to the CF.

Have you done a YouTube search for polishing CF car panels? Might give some tips on what to use.

Cant see any problem. The carbon frame will either be the epoxy if it's bare or painted. Very little will attack epoxy, and paint should be fine.

Farcela G3 Superwax lasts for ages IME, it's the go-to treatment for boat hulls too as it lasts well even with constant washing! They do colour restoring and scratch removing compounds as well if you really want to make it look good.

Car products are fine for this purpose, so long as it's not matt, then it will just look a mess.

I would avoid polish as surely it will thin the laquer. Just use a cleaner and then wax.
