Anyone here use their car cleaning kit on their bikes?

Bike cleaning kit is so expensive for how much you get

For example take muc off products

Bike cleaner is around £9.99 for 1 litre yet you can get car snow foam which is so much better than muc off for £15 for 5 litres including a spray nozzle attached to the 5 litre bottle

Muc off drivetrain cleaner £15 for 500ml, No nonsense heavy duty degreaser from Screwfix is £8.99 for 5 litres and can be watered down if need be, works perfect on gunked up cassettes and drivetrain etc.. can be decanted into a spray bottle to make it easier to clean

A lot of Muc off and other bike brands cleaning and maintenance products can be had so much cheaper for the car cleaning versions

I'm surprised more people dont use car detailing kit instead

use snow foam on mine but not degreaser unless its for the chain which I take off to clean. Bike specific stuff is worse for cost than car specific stuff.

People clean cars?

For the record my longest not cleaning a car was 4 years and 160k as the company I worked for stopped letting us claim getting it cleaned (we're talking a fortnightly thru the car wash), and it was a company car.

Beat me to it. My car flashes me that disgusted look when I'm in the yard washing my bikes AGAIN!!

I got about 3 gallons of TFR free of a local Facebook group, diluted 1:10 in a sprayer it'll probably last me a decade of utility car washing 🤣. So it's free.

I wash the car weekly at the moment as ~600 miles of motorway filth makes the windows opaque. And by the time I've sprayed the TFR on and jet washed it off I may as well do the whole car.

Doing the everyday cars properly they get some £8/gallon turtlewax shampoo. And I do use the expensive hard wax I bought for the MG as it lasts longer than anything from a bottle.

Doing the MG it gets some £35 'shampoo and conditioner', so yea, bike stuff starts to look cheap! And that's before you get onto all the other waxes and potions and endless buying of microfiber cloths.

Bike gets whatevers to hand, Ive used the tfr decanter into old muck off bottles, car shampoo, various silicone sprays as wax. I think the last bike specific thing I bought was some 10:1 Fenwicks about a decade ago and the odd Christmas stocking filler.

Bike cleaner is around £9.99 for 1 litre

Muc off motorcycle cleaner can be found a lot cheaper, I've been paying £25 for 10l for a few years now (buy one get one free deal), they state on their website its exactly the same stuff but isn't sold by most bike shops

Has anyone tried using this sort of stuff on their bikes? Looks like it would work out very cheap compared to muc off when you factor in the recommended 1:10 dilution ratio for spray bottle application.

I've tried TFR before, a mate used to have a hand car wash business and gave me a small bottle to try years ago, he wasn't really sure about how diluted it needed to be for a bike but it didn't do the brakes much good, didn't clean as well as muc off and I definately wouldn't use it on a carbon frame. As I said above muc off motorcycle cleaner can be had cheaper than that stuff (Tweeks) and it doesn't have any negative impact on brakes

Car shampoo and polish on the bike. Car brake cleaner for brakes. TFR - just use it on the MTB tyres - brings them up nice and black.
