Can anyone suggest a fixture or bike rack that fits into the boot of a car, which would allow me to stand the bike up in the rear, obviously with the wheels removed.

A bit like a roof rack, but an internal one, there must be something around or is at case of getting something custom made ?

Cheers.

i have a fairly tatty thule 592 internal bike rack that came out of our van (god rest it's soul). it has 2 qr mounts and i screwed it to the floor of our van but you could fix it to a thick piece of wood to make it removable

yours for £10 plus postage

I made one up over Xmas - couple of QRs, a bit of aluminium tubing (2 quid a metre from DIY store) to be a pretend axle and some old offcuts of wood.

Routered out channel for the axle in one bit of wood (effectively the hub), secured axle in the channel with a bit of ply over the top, fixed that bit of wood on top of another bit (offcentre to allow shadow mech to dangle), then fixed the whole lot onto a base plate.

Took an afternoon to make 2, but it was either that or visit the in-laws...

There is/was a company who made a rack that sat in your boot which had a mount your fork clamped to and you then strapped your downtube to. Had to take the front wheel off of course. I can' remember their name/website so this is limited in value to you unless someone else can remember the company?

thepurist -

I have thought about having a go at putting something together, wouldn't mind taking a look if possible, do you have a photo of what you have come up with?
