Seen a few stories of a Canyon recall knocking about. 2018 Spectral apparently can snap the chain stays (with the alloy rear end).
That's ... not really new!
There some older posts about it.
Heat treatment issue of some welds?
Yeah something like that. Maybe it's just official today, but judging from reading some comments, it's been going on a while.
Supposedly owners of the affected bikes have received a communication from Canyon back in June. Still, they should have a dedicated section on their website (like Decathlon) rather than waiting for the CPSC to let the cat out of the bag.
To give a bit of perspective, Canyon make a virtue of being able to contact all owners directly. It is a key part of their business model. Personally I would rather receive direct correspondence from them than rely on the industry standard of doing a General recall through the media which other manufacturers adopt. As an approach, it is much less splatter gun than a general recall notice.

Yes - for bikers which "don't need an LBS" - this direct sales stuff is not bad.
If ... the company cares about their customers.
Canyon: I guess they care and do everything to fix this nasty issue.
Overall challenge for Canyon: they are growing like nuts. Which is good. But this imposes also some risk in the Canyon supply chain. Stuff is made in Asia. Difficult to impose quality control and when the company grows so fast difficult to get qualified employees which "know" the bike industry....
The Spectral is an great bike. Only sad when stuff falls off after 2 weeks..
