I intend to get a Canyon Spectral CF 9. Unfortunately, I do not know of anyone who has it in our country. So I have to purchase it without being able to sit on one. Hence, I need your help regarding what size to get.

Here are my stats:

Height: 170cm (5'7")
Inseam: 78cm (31")
Torso: 63cm
Shoulder Width: 45cm
Arm Length: 67cm

From their online size calculator, it suggested Small. I also emailed Canyon and they said small. I have read that Canyons sizes run on the small side. Therefore, I wanted to get opinions of people who has a Spectral CF and similar stats as me. Your help will be much appreciated since this is quite a sizable purchase for me.

Many Thanks!

I rode a spectral last week in Mallorca. It was 650b, in medium, I am about 5'8'', and it was fine, but at the time I thought I could manhandle a smaller frame better.
I'd say small would be fine, but I'm no expert.
It was great btw.

I ride a large spectral cf but I'm 6 foot.
Can't help with your question but it is a great bike.

I'm 5'8" and really like the fit of my medium Strive Race with 35mm stem which will be a fair bit longer in top tube / reach than a medium Spectral I think. The top tubes are fairly dropped so do give very good stand over.

I'd be inclined to go Medium at your height. Worth checking seat tube measurements just to make sure you can get the saddle low enough (assuming a dropper).

and I'd ignore the Canyon sizing thing which always seems to suggest a smaller frame then I'd like (I had a medium 2012 Strive when it suggested small which would have been tiny).

But I am a bit of a sucker for all this 'modern' long and slack fashion.

I have a medium Spectral and am very happy with its sizing. I'm 5'10" and it recommended a small for me but I went against it. If you normally ride a 17"/18" 'medium' then I'd go with that - otherwise stick to the recommendation.

I have a medium i'm 178cm and am happy with the sizing. I agree with the above re 17"/18"medium size frames.I think if you size up you may have problems with seat post length.
Hope that helps

Thanks Guys for all your help! Still can't decide haha. Giant Trance Geometry is somewhat similar to that of the Spectral. Perhaps I should try the Trance to see how it fits me.

I compared the Strive and Spectral Medium. Strive has longer Top Tube and stack. But reach of Spectral is longer. Strange.

I guess that may be because the Strive has a slacker head and / or seat angle effectively moving the BB forward and bars back??

Mine is the Strive in Race geometry which i'm pretty sure will be longer than the Spectral.

DeeW. I made a mistake. I checked again the Geometries of the Strive Race vs Spectral CF. Strive is longer in all areas of Top Tube, Stack and Reach. I am still at a loss what size to get hehe. Thanks again.

I'm 176cm tall. I have a Spectral AL EX 7.0 in medium. The size is fine.

If I remember correctly the Canyon size calculator suggested a medium. It's a lot of measuring for a pretty obvious answer: pick the bike that you think will fit best.

I wondered about a small for 'chuck ability'. A small would have offered more standover height and I don't believe would have made much difference in the feel of the 'cockpit'. I haven't had to put the seat post up to expose more than a couple of cm below its collar. This also makes me think that a small would have been fine.

I'd be wary of canyons measurements, my large strive race is stated as having a 460mm seat tube, it actually measures 480mm, it was a bonus for me being tall but if it was borderline you could have problems with a dropper post.
Also I have no idea how they measure top tube length as its nothing like the 648mm stated, I can only guess it may be based on a what it would measure with a straight seat tube, however it has a bend in it so actually measures about 30mm shorter.

I'd say medium, I'm 32" inseam and on a large canyon, I think you'll be showing a lot of post on small. I'm on a strive which is a bit longer than the spectral and I'm 62 so quite a bit longer in the chest and I find it a little bit cramped, reckon the medium would feel pretty good to you and you can drop the stem a bit if you want it a bit shorter, IIRC they have 70mm on as stock?

So I did order medium spectral and next two weeks will arrive I hope. I also order new 35 mm stem just for case, if bike will feel too long for me 😉
