Hi,

About to press the buy button for the Canyon. Before I do that is there anything else I should consider around £1800-2000?

I plan to use it as a summer bike, club runs, commutes and maybe some racing.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

(I've never had a carbon bike as I've been rattling around on a 1990 steel framed road for two years weighing 15kg. I am now pretty fit and I hope to notice night and day differences, any thoughts on this experience would be interesting also)

old stock cannondales at pauls cycles eg

TBF whilst I am a bit of a c'dale road bike fanboi, if I had £2K to spend I'd get the CF SL 9.0 (in silver/cyan).

Dunno your size or whether the colour clash would drive you mad?

or if you fit a 54 and want aero

I'd still get the CF SL 9.0...

My winter bike is a 26yr old 531C lump Ive owned since new and its never occurred to me to weigh. I got a ~21lb alloy framed road bike a few years ago when I got re-bitten by the road bug, and now have a carbon Lapierre that is 16.5lbs (7.5kg in new money). Every time I lift it up, get on it, or accelerate away from the lights or up a hill I crack a grin.

Yeah - I agree the Silver cyan does look great. I'm a size xl. Worth £200 more though? Thanks you are confirming my thoughts. Can't wait!

You can get the CF SL 9.0 for 1999.. or if you know someone in Europe or Ireland and pays in euros it equates to £1650!

I'd just get the Canyon.

I was looking for a new road bike in similar price range last year and very nearly ordered a CF - but then a Defy came up cheap at my LBS.

Yep, finding it very difficult to overlook the Canyon. Is the 9.0 £200 better than the 8.0 though?

Get the alloy one I linked to since it's lighter and looks nicer. Hope this helps.

depends on how you value the kit and colours on offer - shimano vs sram etc. Personally I'd get the 9.0.

Possibly via a mate in Ireland 😉

you won't be disappointed 🙂 though be prepared to keep the aero spokes from turning into fan spokes (quite literally)!
