Stoic 3 vs Grand Canyon 7
Your thoughts (and prayers... given the availability 😉
What kind of riding do you do? Quite different hardtails - the Grand Canyon is more traditional xc orientated whilst the Stoic has more hardcore hardtail type geometry.
I’d take the Stoic personally - the fork is better, I prefer Sram brakes and the tyres are better (more grip / more sturdy). The headangle is far more trail / downhill friendly and the reach is more modern - it’ll be a more stable bike at speed.
Both have the same groupset - although the Grand Canyon gets a better crank and bottom bracket for some reason.
Grand Canyon has quite a steep head angle and short reach.
Canyon aren’t currently shopping to the UK though - they’ve got it listed as ‘paused’.
I have had a Grand Canyon 6 for a few months now. I wanted a xc bike with no intention of jumps, massive drops etc, just Surrey hills trails, swinley and xc in the winter slop. Last few years I’ve not really ridden my fs and been on cx bikes pretty much 98% of the time so I wanted something close to that but mtb, so I wouldn’t have considered the stoic. For that it’s been great and I’m really pleased with it. But even as an xc bimbler I can tell it’s obviously not quite as gnar capable as my ibis and a bit more upright, which in my case is ideal.
Thank you Guys.
We're based in Guernsey, so I'm hoping they still ship it here...
Given our like for trail centres and the local DH (ish) scene, we'll go for the Stoic. Hoping it still climbs and XCs OK.
What do you mean by better bottom bracket? Thought a threaded BB is better than press fit.
Also. Shame that the manufacturers available at our LBS don't replicate Canyons sizing.

I think the Stoic has a Sram powerspline BB which has internal bearings and isn’t renowned for its longevity. It’s still screw in so you could swap it out for something better with external bearings - but you’d need new crank arms to do that.
What do you mean in terms of matching Canyon’s sizing? Canyon aren’t anything particularly different from other decent bike companies - they just come out good value for money because they have a direct sales model. I guess it depends what your local bike shop stocks too - maybe only cheap models of not great makes?
We're all timy...so looking at geometry charts, I'm considering the XCs sizes (I.e.) with a seat tube of 12" . Can't find that on Marin or Scott on nicer builds...
Cheers
