What's going on here then? Am I a weakling, or are 11 speed links a bit of a bastard to fit?

Tried yanking on it, and then after than I had a look a the chain, which I also gave some abuse. Still no movement.

Any thoughts before I shamefully order one of these:

FWIW Gold KMC 11 speed missing link on a KMC chain. All nice and clean.

Put the link in, and stand on the pedals.

Click.

All done.

What he ^ said. Although I would recommend getting a set of those too. Cheap and a god-send when you need to split the chain 🙂

Amusingly, I have the KMC one, which are handily for single use only. So removing was easy 😡

I have tried standing on pedals, will go have another go.

Sometimes it helps to squeeze the side plates together to ease them on. Oh, and buy the mounting tool as well.

If you're doing the 'standing on pedal thing', remember the quick link must be on the top 'run' of the chain - ie between cassette and chainring, not between rear mech and chainring.

Soooo Jamie, just so I get this right....

You stood on the peddle to "clip" the link into place and didn't think that the "tension" of the chain would be on the "top" of the chain going ONTO the chain ring in the peddle pushing Downstroke, and not off it (a la' chain coming off the chainring and heading towards that dangly bit at the back where all the mud congregates) No?

No?

Really?

😆

You sure you need a bike with a chain and not one of these..

I did originally put "not wanting to insult your intelligence but..."

But it's sort of not that obvious. Sort of.

Another important tip.
Make sure they are attached to the cranks.
