Bought a pair of Stroker Trails about 9 months ago from Rose I think, but never got round to fitting them. Had to put a longer hose on for the rear and I simply cannot get it bled properly.
Well I can, all air out and firm lever after just 10mm travel, but after a couple of hours the lever pulls back to the handle. Bleed it again and the same thing happens.
No sign of any leaks and I've put plumbers tape on all the hose connections, still the same. The front doesn't feel that good either not at least it's not leaking air. I put a pair on my daughters bike and they stop you like you've run into a wall with very little lever travel, so I know these aren't right.
Any ideas before I contact Hayes?
Plumber's tape? Eh? No need for that and I'm sure it won't improve things.
It sounds like you've got a leak somewhere if the lever pulls back to the bar. Have you used a new olive at the lever end? Have you watched the Hayes bleeding video on YouTube?
Yeah I know.... but I put the tape on just to make sure that there was no air leaking in through the hose connections as I couldn't think of anything else! I've used all new parts from the Clarks hose kit I bought (they don't use an olive but a combined barbed hose insert and compression bushing at the MC end - the caliper end has a factory fitted banjo joint.
