hi new to the site and quite new to the peddling scene but have got a cannondale sl5 at min with 120mmm rebas. Have been riding singletracks over kinver and Cannock chase. Would consider myself a half decent rider. But I've been offered a lapierre zesty frame at a real bargain. having never really rode full sus im not sure what there like. what do you think of the change is it definatley worth while as obviously will have to build into full bike.
Cheers in advance

If the Zesty is a bargain i'd go for it, They really are good frames. Pedal well, climb nicely and decent like a little all mountain bike. You'd be able to move some of your cannondale gear across which will make it a little cheaper.

Would I need longer travel forks. I'm guessing I would need 140mm upwards.

Yeah, you'd need 140mm forks something like Fox Float RL140 or Rock Shox Sektor to get the right geometry and position.

If your looking at Rock Shox Sektors same as what comes on the 214 I think check out this link - http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FORSSEKRL15/rockshox_sektor_rl_150mm_solo_air

If your pockets go a bit deeper have a look at the Rock Shox revelations on the same site!

Is the Zesty bargain off a mate who is the original owner and can help with warranty issues (if any arise)? Zesty's don't have a great reputation for longevity (although my 2009 one has been fine...) so I'd caution against buying one second-hand unless it's either cheap enough you won't care too much if it breaks or you can get the original owner to deal with the warranty if it does break.

Ok it's not actually a zesty it's a spicy 516. So slightly different. He is a mate who could possibly help with warranty but it's that cheap at £150 I've got to buy it really
