Hi guys I got myself a 2009 prophet the beginning of the year for a bargain price,

I love the bike it rides great but I'm thinking about doing a few upgrades to keep it up to date so to speak.

Currently got bomber 66 forks but I'm unsure of correct year or model or when last serviced so thinking about a newer set of used pikes or fox 32s kashima

Has a fox rp32 shock again unsure of year or last serviced so again possible upgrade to a newer fox or maybe a rockshox monarch debonair plus.

While I'm doing these upgrades would it be worth converting it to 650b as the forks should be more readily available

If got so many questions running round my head so hopefully the more experienced members on the forum could help me out

Thanks in advance

Sam

One day I'll get around to doing this to my prophet.
There have been threads on this over the years on here so have a search.
From memory the shock goes in the xc setting, think Ive read you can fit a 200x57 shock instead of the 200x51 fitted. I'd also fit offset shock bushings and an Angle headset, at the mo you're limited to Works Components as superstar are pretty much out of stock.

Found one thread

If you stick a 650b wheel in the back you'll end up with a much taller and steeper frame as the wheel is bigger and you have to run it in the steep XC setting.

Up front it would matter less, you could drop the travel slightly to compensate for the bigger wheel, but if you're coming from 66's then it's likely that just about anything will be shorter anyway.

Depends on your local riding, but I'd have thought trying to increase the wheel size would only ruin what made it great (that it was one of the early examples of longer/lower/slacker geometry on a trail bike).

Cheers guys, I have had a quick search about the 650b idea, the only reason behind me thinking about it was if I'm looking for new forks should i go for the 650b,

The 66 bombers are good but no adjustment and the rebound and compression don't seem to do much, plus I think there from 2006

You could go with 26" wheels in 650b forks if that's all that's available, but ebay is awash with cheap 26" trail forks so unless you want to upgrade the frame sometime soon to a 650b one I don't really see the point in spending the extra £££.

Good point in 26 wheels in 650b fork, worth keeping in mind, ideally I want to keep the frame as I was after one for a few years before one came on the market at the same time I had the spare fund.

I paid 375 for the full bike so don't mind spending abit to update it,

Any opinions on the rockshox monarch debonair plus
